I now only test using Windows 10. In the future 2Tone will not work with XP. The only noticeable change is that the setting menu has a new item: Contest Map. This changes the way that RTTY characters are mapped to Windows display characters. In RTTY contests many figures case characters are not used and where there is an unambiguous 1 bit error from a contest character then 2Tone maps that character to it. An example of this is . (full stop) is not used in contests for any good purpose but this is one bit error from / as in G3YYD/P. So those guys who like wasting time sending ....G3YYD de G9ABC .... K, the dots will come out as / I keep Contest Map ticked for ragchew/DXing, but your choice. Further I have changed the way the character sync works it is now more precise and will maintain character sync at a lower signal to noise ratio. But I came across an occasional station, less than 1 in 100, who would not character sync during the BARTG March contest (I was world 1 in SOAB with 2nd less than half my points). I have not been able to reproduce this so unable to test against it. I have also changed the auto-correlation that is when 2Tone combines together 2 repeat strings of characters. It is more sensitive but with this goes an increase in errors between the {} brackets. However I think this is a worthwhile trade off as all the errors I have seen so far have been obviously in error. This system improves the sensitivity by about 3dB and more when conditions are poor with a lot of flutter and frequency selective QSB. I suggest you always send your callsign twice when CQing or S&P calling the more so if you use low power and/or compromise antennas. This will maximize your chance of copy if the far end is using 2Tone decoder(s). I value your feedback especially where you see something that is consistently the same.
